This program serves Mentees up to age 24 and their Mentors with additional support and guidance in helping Mentees make educational and career decisions. Our goal is that Big Futures Mentees are enrolled, employed or enlisted after high school
graduation so they may reach their full potential in adulthood. Every Mentee will receive individualized support dependent on their specific needs (housing resources, financial literacy, mental health, LGBTQ+, etc.)
Current Community Based Mentees, High School Bigs, or new McHenry County Applicants who:
- are at least 16 years of age, but no older than 24 years of age
- will benefit from a mentoring relationship focusing on college and career readiness
- can commit to a mentoring relationship at the time of application
We defend potential in a few practical ways:
1. Goal setting and accountability for Mentees from Big Futures Staff
2. Directing matches to resources that align with set goals (scholarships,
internships, jobs, etc.)
3. Workshops and special events for matches (Workshops are also open to
Community Based matches with 11th and 12th grade Mentees as well.)
4. Developing Community Relationships that result in unique education,
career, and entrepreneurship opportunities for Mentees.
